Choose Cruise Clothes Like A Boss!

I’ve seen tons of future cruisers asking “What in the world do I wear on a cruise, especially Elegant Evening???” Most likely you are here for that answer as well, so here’s my take on the clothing conundrum.

We all want to be cute and comfy at the same time while sailing the open seas, but sometimes we have no idea where to start. Fear not, because your sister from another mister has you covered! Really. But not really.

Follow my suggestions below and you will be snatched from head to toe!! I’ve even included links for easy shopping. You’re welcome!

1. Shorts– Comfy shorts are vacation staples. You really only need 2 pair that you can alternate your T Shirts with. The key here is to be able to make multiple outfits with fewer pieces. Because luggage weight and baggage fees are a thing.

2. T Shirts-3 or 4 T Shirts will get you through shore excursions on a 7 day cruise. Don’t take more than 2 T Shirts for cruises of 5 or fewer days. I know it’s hard, but trust me on this one. You will spend lots of time not in T Shirts on your cruise.

3. Swimwear– For some, this is the easiest part. Just grab and go! For others not so much. In the real (not skinny) world, we have to carefully choose each piece according to how it makes our butt and gut look. Typically for a 7 day cruise, you could do 3 mix and match bikinis/tankinis with coverups or you could do cute swim dresses that require no cover up.  Nobody is ever lining up to see all of my junk in the trunk (except my husband of course), so I usually go for the more conservative tankinis and swim dresses. That’s my contribution to humanity!

4. Casual Dinner Dresses– For some reason my inner girly-girl shows up on cruises (even though she doesn’t pay for it), and she really likes wearing dresses to dinner. Since my girly girl is too lazy to iron on land and sea, I choose dresses that are stylish and travel well! #lazypeoplerule

5. 1 or 2 Elegant Evening Dresses– Elegant Evening is the night when passengers have the opportunity to dress to impress while they finesse! Yes! I’ve seen everything from Prom Queen to Classy Couture to Your mirror must’ve been broken in your cabin, and you have no friends. The dresses below are more middle of the road, and they are safe but sexy. Find your groove Stella!

6. Shoes– This is the article of clothing that I always over pack! The best tactic is to pick outfits that are similar in color so that you negate the need for a different pair of shoes for each outfit. This actually make lots of sense, but somehow I HAVE TO BRING EVERY SHOE THAT I OWN! Don’t worry though, I’m going to over packers anonymous soon! Pray for me peeps! Until then, here’s my recommendation for everyone who is not me. 1 pair of flip flops, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of comfy slip ons, and 1 pair of dressy shoes.

No matter which outfit combination you choose, have a Fun, Fantastic, Fashionable Cruise!
