10 Reasons To Visit Cozumel’s Paradise Beach

Cozumel Mexico is a beautiful and popular cruise port for many cruise lines. The last time I counted, which was today, we’ve visited Cozumel via cruise ship 12 times. That’s enough time for me to figure out the best non-excursion for us. Paradise Beach has become a staple when our itinerary includes a stop in Cozumel. We don’t even have to think about it hard, it’s a given.

Here’s why:

1. Easy Access– Getting to Paradise Beach is very easy. Just walk off of the ship down to the front of the port area. The taxi stand is your destination. You will see a line of people waiting for taxis and usually there is a “Director” asking where everyone is going and the number of people in the party. Just tell them that you would like to go to Paradise Beach, along with the number of people and you will be directed to the next available taxi that can accommodate you.
2. Short Drive– It takes only 10-15 minutes to get to PB, and it’s a straight shot from the Puerta Maya cruise port. You barely have enough time to put on sunscreen!
3. Skip the Excursion Desk– You do not need to reserve a spot ahead of time for PB. This is good for cruisers since the weather is unpredictable, and sometimes so are cruise itineraries. If you miss the port or decide the weather is too dicey, no worries, you didn’t invest any money upfront, so you don’t have to wait for a refund. Once you get to Cozumel, go as early as you can though, because it does fill up after noon, and as more ships arrive.
4. It’s Affordable– The entrance fee for PB is only $3. That includes a chair by the pool or the beach. Their only ask is that you purchase $10 in food or drink during your stay. There is also an option to use the water toys in the ocean for a flat rate of $18. This is still a great deal if you have little people with you who have lots of energy to burn. They will be entertained for hours in the water.

5. Relaxing– PB is ideal for those with relaxing as a priority. Choosing a lounger by the pool or ocean gives you the perfect opportunity to read, people watch, or nap. It’s your vacation, so go crazy and do all 3!

6. Fun in the sun– You can chill out in one of the loungers in the pool, or go for a swim in the ocean. Either way, you can have fun while getting your tan done.
7. Year Round– PB boasts Mexico’s largest heated pool, so you can visit any time of year. Come on in, the water’s fine.
8. The Food– Let me tell you about the shrimp quesadillas. They are soft, warm, pillows of cheesy heaven on earth. They are the Friday of Mexican food. I have never had a bad one, and I’ve had them a lot!

9. The Service– When you enter PB you will have a server team assigned to you. They will introduce themselves and they will check on you often. They will take great care of you especially if you remember their name, and use it. Bonus points if you speak basic or advanced Spanish. Even if you attempt a few words in Spanish, they really do appreciate it, and they are eager to help you learn!

10. Getting Back to Port- It’s just as easy to get back, as it was to get there. After you have paid your tab, showered and changed back into your street clothes, just walk out front, and there will be plenty of taxis waiting to take you back. You can even go downtown or shopping from there. PB is super accessible to lots of good spots!
